About

Owner, Going Coastal Fabrics

Thank you for shopping at Going Coastal Fabrics!  My name is Kristin and I'm proud to donate 5% of your purchase to charity.  Being a mother of two inspires my everyday living.  I want to show my kids that no matter who you are, you have the power to make a difference in the world.  As a shy, introverted person, I find it challenging to find volunteer opportunities that don't feel uncomfortable.  However, I have a degree in Business Administration and I'm a lifelong crafter, so I've found that I can use the skills I have to sell fabric and donate a portion of the sales to help others.  I want to do my part to make the world a better place: helping charities, offering certified organic fabrics and OEKO-TEX certified fabrics, and finding ways to ship more sustainably are some of the ways I'm building the type of business-model I want to see in the world.  Thank you for supporting my vision!  You have a choice to purchase your fabric anywhere, so I thank you for helping me make the world a better place for our future generations.

Fun Facts About Me:

  • I learned to sew in 2010 when I teamed up with several quilters at my job (I used to work in Human Resources).  They taught me to sew and we created community quilts together during our lunch hour that we donated to charity.
  • This is my second shop, my first shop was called Going Coastal Baby and I made baby bibs, burp cloths and quilts that I sold on Etsy and at craft fairs.
  • I love to read.  My favorites authors are Jane Austen and Liane Moriarty and I'm a Harry Potter fan (Ravenclaw).
