About

Thank you for shopping at Going Coastal Fabrics!  My name is Kristin and I'm a quilter and fabric lover.  I learned to sew in 2010 when a group of amazing women at my office taught me to sew.  We created community quilts together during our lunch hour and donated these quilts to charity.  I'm proud to continue that philanthropic spirit by donating a portion of profits to charity.  I have selected The Celiac Disease Foundation for a charity focus because I have Celiac Disease.  I have been on a gluten-free diet for almost 20 years (the only current cure for Celiac Disease) and I hope someday there is a cure.

Going Coastal Fabrics was named as a spin-off to a shop I had when my first child was a baby called Going Coastal Baby.  Going Coastal Baby was a boutique shop of handmade quilts, baby bibs and burp cloths that I sold on Etsy and at craft fairs.  As an online quilt shop shipping coast-to-coast and everywhere in between, Going Coastal Fabrics made sense as a name.  The logo resembles a postmark with the post markings in aqua representing ocean waves.

Fun Facts About Me:

  • I have two young kids and they love the help in the shop.  They are great at helping me unload fabric deliveries and stocking the shelves.
  • My degree is in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources.  I always knew I wanted to have my own business but at the time I thought it would be a candle shop.
  • I love to read.  My favorites authors are Jane Austen and Liane Moriarty and I'm a Harry Potter fan (Ravenclaw).
